Some snow on the way for the Denver metro area to Colorado Springs in addition to the rest of Colorado this weekend. Will we see a classic March snow this last weekend of the month? Meh...
Over the last 24 hours many areas across the state picked up more snowfall, including a few communities along the urban corridor – with roughly 1.0" being reported in places like Castle Rock this morning. At look at the 24 hour snowfall totals from across the state shows some areas of more appreciable snowfall as well:
As we head into Friday evening and overnight into Saturday morning we see another quick-hitting system moving through that will bring additional snow showers to the region. For many folks the snow won't amount to much, as the activity will be rather hit-and-miss. For those that do end up under a band of snow tonight, several inches will be possible.
Placement of the snow is going to be challenging. Generally speaking we think the best chance will be along and east of I-25 for the heaviest showers to set up. Still, we'll broad-brush nearly all of Northeast Colorado in the 1 - 4" snowfall range... with areas under those more organized showers pushing the 4" totals, and areas that miss... well, 1" will be the most we see.
Here is our latest snowfall forecast that takes us from this morning through Saturday evening:
For a timeline we see an increased chance of precipitation (rain and snow) as we head into Friday PM, with the greatest snow chances coming tonight into Saturday morning. A slight chance of showers remains in the forecast through the weekend, with perhaps a bit of an uptick by Sunday night.
And expected impacts over the next 24 hours shows much of the state could see that inclement weather, so if your plans take you out on the roadways be prepared for such:
Temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s through the weekend with the occasional snow, and even rain. Some models bring another round of scattered but moderate snow showers on Sunday night into Monday, so something we'll need to track as we move through the weekend.
