A heat advisory has been issued for parts of Colorado's Front Range Monday. Denver will threaten the record high for this date, which is 102°, but even a hint of a cloud or two may keep temperatures colder than the record. Colorado Springs may also set a record today.

What's a heat advisory? Well, heat has reached a level that may be dangerous to many of us.

Per NWS for Monday:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.  Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

There will likely be records set elsewhere in the state today as the heatwave continues across the southern and western U.S. Here are the records today (numbers) and possibly the next seven days (stars).

For Colorado, record highs Monday are possible in the following locations:
Colorado Springs 96°
Grand Junction 104°
Pueblo 104°

Looking at the hourly planner, we see that temperatures do cool a bit the next few days as the rain chances increase. I don't know about yours, but my yard could use another rain.

As the rain chances increase we could see isolated severe storms although the focus of severe weather the next two days will be out of the state.

Sadly for my yard, the next two days look crispy so I'll have to let the system run on its schedule.

You may also see some haze to the sky. Part of that is our usually poor air quality but we will add some smoke to that also. Wildfire smoke is a lot thicker north and east of us, however.

Not throwing shade, pun intended, but stay cool today. If you'd like to be getting the "heads up, hey there is a forecast to be aware of" style emails from us, you can sign up for those for free by clicking here.
