Denver Weather: Flood watch issued again for parts of the city and Front Range

Although I had some rain, even a good clap of thunder with rainfall early this morning, I could use some more - I just don't want too much all at once and that is a risk from today's thunderstorms should you be hit by one. There could also be a higher risk of hail in today's storms.

Today's flood risk areas have shifted some since yesterday. If your county is shaded here, your risk is highest.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHEN...Through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...   - With precipitable water close to an inch over the foothills and up to 1.6 inches on the plains by this evening,     thunderstorms could lead to heavy rainfall. The threat of flash flooding remains elevated for recent burn areas. 1-2 inches per hour could occur over burn areas.

Here is the timing of the storms, an hourly animation for today and tomorrow.

Note that the timing each day will focus on the storms in the midday through the evening, but you should not be shocked if you hear rain and thunder overnight, too.

I'll show you two maps. One will show the potential rainfall for just today, and the other will include all rain estimated for the next three days.

Looking at those rainfall estimates, sure you may not see much forecast for you but then you are also in that flood watch...?!?! What gives, man?!?!  Note that forecast modeling here is a most-probable amount (an average) and does not show what is possible on the high end. In this case, the high end is that we could see one to two inches in a short period of time. That flood watch issuance highlights the most likely areas for that higher end potential, as shown above, and most prone terrain/burn areas/etc.

Beyond today and tomorrow's storm chances, we begin to dry a bit later this week into the weekend. Notice our peaks in the rain chances get shorter and shorter through the week:

Regarding temperatures, a quick day-by-day look at the highs and lows. Warmer with that drier outlook for the weekend.
